Scout Community Week

The Scout Association have announced a new initiative (not unlike the old Bob-A-Job Week).

14 to 20 May 2012 will be Scout Community Week and is intended to show how Scouts can make a big difference in our community and also raise funds for Scouting.

Since launching the idea in October, over a thousand Scout groups up and down the country have declared their intent to get involved and here in Staplehurst we intend to be in on the action as well.

Consult the community

We’re really keen to receive ideas from you about what you would like your Scouts to do. Rather than wash cars and sweep up leaves we are really looking to find a project which can get the whole Group involved and will have a benefit to local organisation, facility, or community group.

If you have an idea for a community project that you think the Scout Group could achive please email us at

Badges and awards

Scout Community Week opens the door to a multitude of badge prospects. Our young people could achieve the Cub Community Challenge, Beaver Outdoor Challenge, Explorer Community Activity Badge, Cub and Scout DIY Activity Badges, and the Environment Partnership Award.

Scout Camp Fire to Celebrate the Diamond Jubilee

The Scout Group intend to hold a camp fun day culminatiing in a camp fire, feast and fun evening.

We are looking for a suitable local venue. Ideally a large open field with lots of off road parking and no nearby buildings (just in case!).

If you can help email me.
